With a history steeped in the classic car world and a huge knowledge of all classic cars what better place to purchase your new addition. The family business is run by 3 generations of car enthusiasts and a dedicated team that want to make your buying and selling of classics an easy and enjoyable experience.
We have a full-time residence at the Long Barn Motor Museum and the current collection was founded by owner Dave Clarke. His enthusiasm for classic cars and being a custodian of the great British motoring life has driven him to acquire a large personal collection of everything motoring. With petrol in his blood Daves son Daniel has risen through the business and as well as a managerial role still spends much of his free time keeping alive old trade skills restoring classic cars.
1968 Sothebys vehicle auction on our site
The first auctions held on the site were for livestock back in the 1800s when the house and barns were part of the Possingworth estate, the auction tradition has continued throughout the decades with collectors and classic car sales. In 1957 A.W.F Smith had the vision to open a motor museum and went about making his dream a reality, with all permissions granted works began!
The museum then opened its doors to the public in 1963, part of the original collection can still be seen at the National motor museum in Beaulieu. The Clarkes then purchased the museum, house and grounds back in 1988, when its doors were opened again and returned to its former glory as the Long Barn Motor Museum. (Photos above)
Now with a renewed interest in all classic cars and following market trends. We decided to focus and grow the Auction aspect of the business yet again. We are unique in the way that we deal with every vendor personally.
